Intuit is making a welcome move to building out its QuickBooks Online offerings by adding Lettuce’s inventory and order management functionality to the existing online product. While this is a big win for small business users, I am curious to see how it will impact the overall cost because one of the significant flaws that I see is that when you add the Quickbooks Online friendly a la carte modules that you could need as a small business to the existing QuickBooks Online product, the recurring costs can add up quickly. Small business users will have to wait and see. This could be a big signal of things to come with Intuit adding significant functionality to Quickbooks Online.
Here’s the story.
Lettuce agrees to join Intuit to strengthen the QuickBooks ecosystem
I’m excited to announce that we have entered into an agreement to acquire Lettuce, a start-up focused on helping product-based small businesses succeed by providing easy to use cloud-based solutions, including a robust inventory and order management system.
Lettuce is known for its simple and elegantly designed cloud-based order management solution with a mobile app that enables SMBs to capture, track, and process orders anywhere in real-time. It focuses on helping customers manage orders and inventory with ease, providing simultaneous access for employees and customers and connecting seamlessly to back-office systems like QuickBooks Online.
As a current Intuit Partner Platform developer, Lettuce’s solutions are already integrated within QuickBooks. With Lettuce, we plan to add key order and inventory management features to QuickBooks, and over time, integrate it seamlessly into the product, creating an end-to-end solution for product-based small businesses.
This is a strategically important acquisition for Intuit that creates a tremendous opportunity to move more desktop customers to the cloud and is aligned with Intuit’s vision of making QuickBooks the operating system behind small business success around the world.
With the strength of its technology, passion for helping small business succeed, and customer-focused domain expertise, Lettuce is a great fit for Intuit. Expect great things as the Intuit QuickBooks and Lettuce teams begin working together to integrate the two offerings to solve the needs of small business customers.
